I am the youngest of two sons to my parents Chris and Patricia Bottoms who live in Silsbee, TX. My dad was career Air Force as I was growing up and later surrendered to the ministry. I have had the privilege of being on staff with him at several churches, and he is a strong mentor in my life. My brother is also a pastor and is currently serving at a church I helped him plant back in 2010.
I first surrendered to the ministry in 1997, and immediately started living out that call and joined my dad at the church he was pastoring in Australia as their youth pastor. After being there it was clear I needed to get more education and training and so once back in Texas I began attending Criswell College pursuing my degree in Biblical Studies. I continued to serve in youth ministry while attending college, and worked alongside my dad to plant a church at one point. I have since gone on to complete my Masters of Christian Leadership from Criswell College, and have plans to pursue a Doctorate in Applied Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In December 2008, I met my wife Kari as we were both serving in youth ministry at different churches. By August 2009, we were married. For so long I had prayed to meet a woman that could co-labor with me in ministry, and Kari's heart and passion for the church were evident from the moment we met. Kari holds a BS from Houston Baptist University in Psychology and Biblical Studies. She also has graduate coursework in Social Work and Counseling.
In the beginning of 2013, we began the foster care adoption journey desiring to grow our family. Since then we have adopted 4 amazing kiddos all siblings Elijah, Ethan, Hannah and Ezra. In 2018, we had the blessing of finding out that Kari was pregnant, which was a wonderful surprise, she gave birth to our Abigail in September of 2018.
Looking back over my life so far it is clear to see the hand of God, and that is how I long to live, surrendered to Him and his calling.
